Paw Print
16 01 2014Yesterday I was called to go to my vet and pick up my baby’s paw print. It was bittersweet for sure. i was happy to finally have it, but it made everything truly final. I now have every part of him back home where he belongs. I found his old collar last night as well. Had a very nice cry fest over that one. It has gotten easier everyday to handle but it is still heartbreaking and hurtful to me. I miss that little guy so much.
Even to this day it still amazes me how many people want to hear about Salem, who want to see his pictures, who want to know the love we shared. It was certainly something pretty amazing and I miss him. I don’t think I will ever not miss him. He was my warrior. And I know he is still there, looking out for me and loving me as if he was still here.

It now feels complete doesn’t it? I know exactly what you mean…. Once I got Franklin back.. I was complete again.. in a different way.
Of course people want to hear about your Salem dude!!! We all have a bond here and we love hearing the history behind our warriors and princesses!!
It does get easier every day.. but it never truly goes away. There is that spot on our hearts, one spot for every furkid that has stolen a piece during their time with us. Sometimes there are spots blending together cause there are many that we have loved. When my heart is truly “whole” again is the day that I will be hugging all my furkids at the bridge…
Until then… I have lots of room for more spots….

KendI I’m sorry, that is such a tough thing to do. I’m glad you have that precious momento though. Next time you feel sad, just look at it and remember that his paw prints will always be a part of you, and us too.

Glad that you got the rest of everything for Salem home. It always is a comfort to have them home. I look at Sassy’s paw print all the time.
